Buttock Augmentation

This procedure enhances and reshapes the buttock area in anyone who is after a shapely, uplifted buttock. The procedure includes placing gluteal implant (buttock prosthesis), or liposculpture (which is liposuction and fat transfer) to enlarge and reshape your buttocks. It can help create a more balanced look and also reshape any deformities, sagging, flatness and also any discomfort you have with your thighs. This procedure is common for transgender women who want to create a more feminine buttock and hip area.

Best Candidates:

The best candidate for buttock augmentation is someone who is:

  • Bothered that their buttock is too small
  • Physically healthy
  • Unhappy with the general shape of their buttock
  • Noticing they have an asymmetrical buttock
  • Noticing a change in shape after massive weight loss

As with any cosmetic surgery procedure, it is important to remember that your surgery will not turn you into someone else and you should not rely on your procedure to change your life. If you are considering undergoing a procedure it is imperative you speak to someone you trust, are happy in your life and are simply seeking to enhance your appearance and confidence, rather than looking to completely change who you are. It is equally important you are psychologically ready.

Preparing for your Procedure:

It is important to discuss with your doctors and with us any:

  • Medical conditions you have
  • The medication you are taking - prescription, herbal and non-prescription

Once you arrive at your destination you will have a physical evaluation with your surgeon, where you will discuss your goals and concerns where you will finalise the plan for surgery. At this examination your surgeon will determine the best procedure for you and explain it to you in detail, including any limitations - after all, it is important that you head into surgery with realistic goals. It is during this examination that your surgeon will also make recommendations for other procedures.

In the lead-up to your surgery, it is important you do the following:

  • Stop smoking. Smoking can cause problems with circulation and increase the possibility of complications

What to Expect:

Length of surgery:

This outpatient surgery takes around two to three hours. It often requires one to two nights stay in the hospital.

Recovery and post-op care:

Each buttock augmentation is very different, depending on the types of implants used. If you used implants, you will have to wear a support garment for two to three weeks after your procedure to help support. After about three months the swelling will have gone down and the implants will have settled and the final results will be noticeable. If on the other hand, you have fat grafting, it is important you do not sit for about two weeks after the surgery as it will damage the fat when you do sit you will need a pillow or cushion to help raise the buttocks. You will also need to sleep face down or on your side.

In either case, after your procedure swelling, bruising and discomfort are common but this can be eased with medication. In both cases it is common your surgeon will give you a support garment to wear all the time following your surgery, however, this is something your surgeon will talk to you about.

Length of Stay:

It is recommended you stay on holiday for 14 nights, during which time you will have follow up appointments with your surgeon. To get the most out of your recovery time we suggest you partake in gentle exercise, yoga classes and treat yourself to some pampering. If you are feeling up to it, there is plenty to see and do in Phuket, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.

Other procedures to consider:

It is common for patients to get a tummy tuck, thigh lift, and facelift to give a more balanced profile.Non-surgical procedures can also be added to give an even more youthful appearance and change the texture of your skin so you return home even more refreshed, such as cosmetic fillers for reducing fine lines of laser resurfacing and chemical peels.
