This is a popular procedure for men or women, and while the average age for patients is 40-50 years,  older patients have also had successful facelifts. 

After surgery moderate swelling of the eyelids and other facial areas is common and there is usually some discomfort following, which can be managed with medications. While you will be moving around in a couple of days, it is advised you to relax for a week or so. Bruising and swelling can take four to six weeks to subside,  and any strenuous activity should be avoided until bruising and swelling subside. In terms of social activities, within two weeks the swelling should be reduced enough, however, many patients prefer to delay significant social activities for four weeks.

A facelift, clinically known as rhytidectomy, is a procedure that reduces the appearance of ageing with the goal of improving the overall appearance of the face and jaw. It literally lifts the skin to tighten the skin on the neck and face.

Immediately after surgery large, fluffy dressing is often applied and removed within one day after surgery and replaced with an elastic wrap. In some cases, drainage tubes will have been left under certain areas of the skin to reduce post-surgical swelling. After a few days, these and any stitches will be removed.

It is important to bear in mind there will be swelling, so it depends on your job and also how comfortable you feel returning while the swelling is still visible.
