Best Candidates:

The best candidate for the Yummy Mummy package is someone who is:

  • Physically healthy, emotionally stable, and well-informed about the procedure
  • At a stable weight, and has been for at least one year
  • A mother looking to regain confidence in their body
  • Unhappy with the size of their breasts
  • Noticing asymmetry in their breasts
  • Looking for a more rounded breast shape
  • Noticing large fat deposits in the lower abdomen that does not shift with diet and exercise
  • Noticing loose abdomen skin as a result of extreme weight loss, multiple pregnancies

As with any cosmetic surgery procedure, it is important to remember that your surgery will not turn you into someone else and you should not rely on your procedure to change your life. If you are considering undergoing a procedure it is imperative you speak to someone you trust, are happy in your life and are simply seeking to enhance your appearance and confidence, rather than looking to completely change who you are. It is equally important you are psychologically ready.

Preparing for your Procedure:

It is important to discuss with your doctors and with us any:

  • Medical conditions you have
  • The medication you are taking - prescription, herbal and non-prescription

Once you arrive at your destination you will have a physical evaluation with your surgeon, where you will discuss your goals and concerns where you will finalise the plan for surgery. At this examination, your surgeon will determine the best procedure for you and explain it to you in detail, including any limitations - after all, it is important that you head into surgery with realistic goals. It is during this examination that your surgeon will also make recommendations for other procedures.

In the lead-up to your surgery, it is important you do the following:

Stop smoking. Smoking can cause problems with circulation and increase the possibility of complications

What to Expect:

Length of surgery:

Depending on the extent of the procedure, it takes between three and four hours. You will be required to stay at least five nights in the hospital.

Recovery and post-op care:

After your surgery, you will be in a surgical bra or bandaged and wearing compression garments around your stomach. It is important you discuss with your surgeon what to do and not to do during your recovery time as this varies person to person.

You will need to stay home from work for two to four weeks and should wait four to six weeks before resuming any strenuous activities. Within this time, the swelling in your stomach and breasts will go down, although this can take several weeks to months to completely resolve.  Any scars as a result of the surgery will fade in three months to two years.

Bandages from your breast augmentation are often removed after several days, and after that, it is often recommended you wear an athletic or support bra until swelling subsides. It is imperative to understand that it may take several months for your breasts to settle into their new place and the full results of your augmentation may not be visible for many weeks. Also, feeling in your nipples can be temporarily reduced, but it usually returns as your breasts heal.

After your surgery it is common to experience pain, abdominal swelling soreness and bruising, all of which can be managed with pain medication provided by your surgeon. It is also common to notice reduced energy levels anywhere from a few weeks to a few months after surgery.

Length of stay:

Most surgeons recommend spending 14 – 21 nights, as you will have regular check-ups throughout your holiday.  To get the most out of your recovery time we suggest you partake in gentle exercise, yoga classes and treat yourself to some pampering. If you are feeling up to it, there is plenty to see and do in Phuket, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.

Preconditions and risks:

Risks and complications are minimised by using our highly-skilled, trusted doctors and nurses. However, with every precaution taken complications can still occur. These are rare and few patients experience any issues. If you have any concerns about your procedure and the possible preconditions and risks, discuss them with your doctor and nurses.

Potential risks include:

  • Scaring
  • Infection
  • Fluid collection (seroma formations)
  • Bleeding
  • Incorrect placement of implant
  • Implants rupturing or leaking
  • Skin wrinkling over the implant
  • Asymmetry
  • Changes in nipple and/or breast sensation
  • Skin discolouration
  • Numbness and other permanent change in skin sensation

It is important to read the general preconditions and risks page before any surgery.

Other procedures to consider:

Many people who travel to Malaysia have more than one procedure because of the cost advantages and also for a more balanced look. A breast lift can be done with a breast augmentation should the desired look require more of a lift. Non-surgical treatments are also commonly undertaken, such as dermabrasion and chemical peels or dental procedures.
