Before Cosmetic Plastic Surgery: advice from the cosmetic surgeon
It’s important that you follow the advice from your plastic surgeon before having your cosmetic plastic surgery.
Vitamin E and Aspirin:
Do not take Vitamin E or medication containing Aspirin before your cosmetic plastic surgery, as this could result in excessive bleeding e.g. Motrin and Advil. Some dietary supplements, herbs, or herbal medications may cause similar problems.
It is best to cut out all supplementation altogether a minimum of 1 week before your surgery overseas.
No smoking:
Stop smoking for at least 4 weeks before your cosmetic plastic surgery, and 4 weeks or more after your cosmetic plastic surgery.
Smoking delays healing after your cosmetic plastic surgery because the blood supply to the skin is reduced.
To minimize possible cosmetic plastic surgery complications such as skin loss and major scarring e.g. tummy tuck or facelift scars, smokers must stop using all tobacco products.
Nicorette gum and nicotine patches release the harmful vasoconstrictor and cannot be used.
When to stop eating/drinking:
Your plastic surgeon will advise you what time you should stop eating or have any fluids the night before the cosmetic plastic surgery during your consultation.
